By car/minibus: From M1 Junction 27 turn E on A608 for 2km. Turn left (N) on A611 for 500m, then turn right onto Annesley Cutting (signed) to follow minor road towards Newstead village and station. After 1km turn left into Hazelford Way where cars and minibuses will be parked.     By Public Transport: There are buses (3A) between Nottingham Victoria Centre and Mansfield every hour, which stop at Newstead Triangle, within 2mins walk of the assembly http/www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/timetable-g.htm The regular trams service from Nottingham railway station is only a couple of miles from the event in Hucknall where you can catch the 3A bus.

This event is suitable for beginners.
Beginner courses are always Entry-On-Day - there is no pre-booking.
You only need to come prepared for a walk or run in the park/woods.
We like to help newcomers to get started. Please email to let us know
that you are coming and we will allocate someone to help you.

Terrain:
A mix of deciduous and coniferous woodland with some contour detail and a good track and path network. The eastern area comprises an east facing slope with numerous spurs and re-entrants with areas of fast open beech forest; the upper plateau is predominantly more traditional working forest. Areas of undergrowth are distributed across the area the worst of which will be avoided. The western area is less contoured and predominantly comprises working forest with areas of younger plantations and is only visited by the longest courses.

Safety:
There is a minor road that encounters light traffic adjacent to the registration. This road is crossed on the way to the start and again returning from the finish. The speed limit is 40mph however, traffic regularly exceeds this. The road crossing will NOT be supervised to and from the start, please supervise young children in the vicinity of the road.
The Blue and Brown courses will cross the A611, there will be a 2 minute timed out crossing which will be marshalled
Competitors take part at their own risk.
It is recommended that whistles are carried.
Once you have started a course it is a rule that you don't leave the event without reporting to a download official even if you retire.

The Competitor Safety Slip can be downloaded and brought to registration if you wish to leave medical or emergency contact details. You may place in a sealed envelope. The slip will be only accessible to the organiser or first aiders and will be destroyed after the event.
