Coaching Day
Coaching Day
The Orienteering Foundation is pleased to announce that we have arranged a coaching day on Saturday 10 February 2018. The day will be held in the South Lakes (exact venue TBC) and will run from 10:00 to 15:00. Participants can be of any standard other than absolute beginners.
As well as the individual coaching (which will be restricted to participants age 18+), Clubs may also organise their own coaching (which can include juniors) using the controls set out, provided they take full responsibility for their groups and use appropriately qualified coaches.
You can make it a weekend of orienteering and practise what you've learned by participating in the LOC orienteering event at Black Beck (TBC) on Sunday 11 February.
Don't delay in getting your place as numbers are limited for safety and to ensure a good in-forest experience.
Full details and how to register are on the Orienteering Foundation website at www.orienteeringfoundation.org.uk/orienteering-foundation-coaching-day

Explore the Park Number 2 on 29 April at Wollaton
Explore the Park Number 2 on 29 April at Wollaton
The second in the Explore the Parks series is at Wollaton Park on 29th April. The Explore the Parks series of low key events this Summer is to attract newcomers and also to give NOC members the chance for some 'training' in the 3 parks.
Please pass on the publicity to friends, work colleagues, local schools or organisations that you are involved with and come along and join in. The parks are not very technical but there will always be some more difficult challenges for experienced orienteers
The controls are numbered so that there is a short easy loop of 5 ot 6 controls and another 10 or so controls, some of which will be near to the short loop. As well as a 'score' there is also the possibility of doing a longer 'cross country' course of between 4.5 and 6km by running the controls in numbered order with some 'interesting' route choices.
The organiser will also welcome any offers of help on the day(s) especially with registration and/or collecting the controls!

Compass Sport Cup and Relays 2017 - Your club needs you!
Compass Sport Cup and Relays 2017 - Your club needs you!
Entries are now being collated for the NOC team events in the first half of 2017. First up we have the Compass Sport Cup qualifier round on the 12th March in Lincolnshire. This is the main intra-club competition of the year where we need as big a turnout as possible to maximise our score (including pushing other clubs counters down). I will be coordinating car sharing for those that want to. Next up are the JK relays in April and British relays in May. I’m pleased to report that the NOC committee have kindly agreed to subsidise all entry fees to the Compass Sport Cup, all Junior relay entry fees and 50% of senior relay entry fees in 2017.
I’m hoping that club subsidy and lovely orienteering terrain on offer, we can have a huge turnout at the CSC and relay events. Further details are included in the attached Entry Form - I'd be grateful if you could complete and return the entry form via eMail. The first deadline is for the Compass Sport Cup entries by Wednesday 15th February please.
Here’s to a great 2017 in orienteering with NOC!
Thanks, Andy Llewellyn, NOC Team Manager
